Who We Are

History

Thank you for your interest in Cornerstone Christian School! The school is a member of the League of Canadian Reformed School Societies in Ontario which is an association of like-minded Reformed Christian individuals and school societies operating schools throughout the province. Cornerstone is managed by a board which is elected from members of the Canadian Reformed School Society of Guelph.

Cornerstone Christian School is an independent school that serves the Canadian Reformed/United Reformed communities within Guelph and the surrounding areas. The school was instituted in 2009 and began its first year of operation in the school year 2010-2011. We are currently supported by Emmanuel Canadian Reformed Church and Living Word Canadian Reformed Church, both of Guelph.

CCS currently has a student body of around 90 students plus a staff of full-time and part-time teachers and administrators. The majority of our highly qualified staff are graduates of Covenant Teachers College in Hamilton and our curriculum is based on the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of Education.

At CCS, it is our goal to uphold our school in accordance with our covenantal obligations which are laid out in the infallible Word of God. As a Reformed school, we base our instruction on the biblical premise that our children are God’s covenant children and need to be instructed in His Word which is the decisive source of truth. This premise is intrinsically embedded throughout our curriculum and school policies.

School membership is directly linked to church membership. As churches, we recognize that there must be unity in what our children are taught at home, church and school. We acknowledge that education is first and foremost the responsibility of parents but as members of the covenant we share this special task and therefore the school assists parents in carrying out the task they promised to fulfill at the baptism of their children.

MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of Cornerstone Christian School is to operate a school to assist parents in the education of their children in accordance with our covenantal obligations which are laid out in the infallible Word of God, as confessed in the Reformed Creeds.

We strive for excellence in education as we help the students develop their God-given talents to facilitate a life of thankful service in God's kingdom.

Our school theme for this year:

"Give thanks in all circumstances"
